Alushield Aluminum Hot Mill Rolling Oils
The Alushield line of hot rolling lubricants represents the next generation of rolling oils for aluminum hot lines. The Alushield series of hot rolling lubricants can be formulated to meet the rolling requirements for reversing mills, single or multi-stand finishing mills and combination (ingot to coil) mill systems. Using the Nash 4 - High Rolling Mill located in the Process Simulation Laboratory at our Warrenville Corporate R & D facility outside of Chicago, Illinois, this new technology was developed to meet the industry's continuing demands for an even more stable rolling oil, less reliance on fatty acid for boundary lubrication and more resistance to biological growth. Fatty acids in aluminum rolling formulations increase the tendency for aluminum soap formation which negatively impacts the consistency of the product’s performance. Boundary lubrication is provided by esters, some which are manufactured at our state-of-the-art Detroit, Michigan manufacturing facility. Field performance of these products has demonstrated excellent resistance to bacterial growth.
